This is an almost unknown but large Classic site (400 to 1000 AD) with an Acrópolis
and 4 Ball Courts, the largest being 70 Mt Long and 8 Mt. wide, there
are not Tall Temples but there are more than 300 Structures, this site
along with Guaytán, dominated the
Jade and Obsidian commerce routes in the Motagua
Valley, until Quiriguá gained the regional
power deafeating Copàn. There were Jade workshops, that were first worked in smaller
sites such as Agulucho and La Ceiba, and then refined and finished here.
4 ball court markers have been found, one is a Pecarí shape of 1.10 mt in
Diameter, they are now in the Teculután Museum. A Burial with Vaulted
crypt and 3 bodies have been found with several polychrome Ceramic and
Jade objects.
